African Legacy is an apolitical, non-profit organization founded in 1996
by concerned educators. By promoting the positive and realistic aspects
of African heritage to Colleges and universities worldwide, African Legacy
seeks to bring balance to the many perceptions of "rural tourists", armchair
analysts and vested interest groups, which so often set the media scene.
African legacy recognizes the difficulty that many Athropology, African
Studies and other departments face in obtaining up-to-date, first-hand
resource material. It desires to provide these centres of learning with
lecturers, who have long-term fieldwork experience in Africa and who have
gained academic distinction with significant new discoveries as a result
of living with the people and working "off the beaten track".
